CM Punk now knows who his opponent for the upcoming Full Gear pay-per-view will be following an emotionally charged AEW Rampage.
Punk appeared backstage on the 29th of October edition of AEW Rampage in an interview segment with Tony Schiavone. The former WWE Champion barely got a word out before being interrupted by an irate Eddie Kingston who had just been defeated by Bryan Danielson.
CM Punk let the world know just how unhappy he was with Kingston’s actions on AEW Dynamite where he addressed the issues surrounding Jon Moxley before turning his attention to Kingston, demanding an apology from the New York native.
This led to the most recent edition of AEW Rampage where CM Punk wanted his apology face to face. An emotional Eddie Kingston soon came face to face with Punk in the ring and what followed was a verbal showdown of epic proportions.
Kingston harkened back to Punk’s attitude towards him early in his career while Punk decried the fact Kingston hadn’t lived up to his potential before calling him “a bum.”
With the situation turning increasingly volatile the challenge was laid down from Eddie Kingston to The Best In The World to meet him at Full Gear. Eddie Kingston then told Punk when he beat him at Full Gear he hoped Punk would leave AEW and the wrestling business for another seven years. All hell then broke loose.
CM Punk headbutted Kingston following this remark and the two men began brawling prompting the referees, officials, and some members of the AEW roster to come to the ring to separate them. Commentary announced that Tony Khan had made the match official and CM Punk will take on Eddie Kingston at Full Gear.
