CM Punk Fell Out With Colt Cabana After He Went For Pizza With WWE Stars

CM Punk

CM Punk made headlines on April 24th when he made a surprise visit to Monday Night Raw.

Punk was on a flight from Florida with a number of WWE talents and decided to drop into Raw which was being held at the Allstate Arena near his home in Chicago. This was the first time that Punk had attended a WWE event since leaving the company in acrimonious circumstances in 2014.

It is believed that Punk spoke with The Miz and Triple H before eventually being asked to leave by WWE security at the behest of Vince McMahon.

To add a further layer of intrigue, the visit comes just weeks before Punk is expected to return to AEW.

Shortly after Punk left WWE he appeared on The Art of Wrestling, a podcast run by his then-friend Colt Cabana. Punk’s comments led to legal action being taken against him by WWE doctor Chris Amann and during this period he also fell out with Cabana. The ROH star later ended up filing a lawsuit against Punk and their friendship was over. This resulted in a feud that still runs to this day.

There was a rumour at the time that Punk fell out with Cabana after he visited a WWE show, however, a new report has clarified some of the details.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that the incident in question saw Cabana meet Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and PAC (who was signed to WWE at the time) for pizza.

“Okay, so the show on Monday when we were talking about the irony of the Punk thing and the thing that started all of this, which was when Punk and Cabana had their falling out when Cabana going to the show. Anyways, I’ve been told that the story is essentially correct, but it wasn’t…Cabana didn’t go to a WWE show.

He actually went out for pizza with Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and PAC a couple of years ago and that’s what caused the start of everything basically because he [Punk] felt that they shouldn’t have contact with anyone in WWE because of the lawsuit. Cabana went for pizza with guys he’s known on the independent scene for years and years and was good friends with,”

CM Punk Meets With Chis Jericho Ahead Of AEW Return

CM Punk hasn’t been seen on AEW television since his now-famous rant following All Out and the backstage brawl that followed. However, it is believed that he will be back with the company soon to head up a new television show, thought to be launching on June 17th.

Punk recently met with Chris Jericho ahead of his comeback following reports that the pair will be working together. It has been noted that the meeting was “relatively uneventful” despite the previous issues between the pair.
