CM Punk Explains How WWE Departure Affected His Friendship With Paul Heyman

Why Paul Heyman Believes CM Punk Is

CM Punk is a Paul Heyman guy.

Punk and Heyman have a deep professional history in the wrestling world, with Heyman playing a crucial role in Punk’s rise in WWE. Heyman was a huge advocate for Punk during his brief time in charge of WWECW and fought hard to get him to wear the ECW title. Heyman and Punk were aligned during Punk’s WWE title reign and have always had a strong relationship.

However, despite their long running friendship when Punk quit the company he and Heyman didn’t remain in contact.

The two were recently aligned when Heyman added Punk to Roman Reigns’ Survivor Series WarGames team, which has led to speculation another alliance is on the horizon.

Speaking in an interview with Jackie Redmond Punk discussed his relationship with Heyman , including during his time away from the company.

“No. We would talk very intermittently. We actually ran into each other at Laguardia airport one time and just, backs to the wall, looking forward and having a conversation. You have to understand when I left here and there was a lawsuit, all kinds of really really gun extra curricular stuff going on, I was advised by lawyers, ’You have to watch what you say to anybody because it could wind up facilitating it’s way back. I was super guarded. It was a rough time for relationships back then, and Paul was kind of no exception.” H/T Fightful
