CM Punk Drops Major Daniel Bryan To AEW Hint

CM Punk has dropped a huge hint pointing to the future of Daniel Bryan but he says he doesn’t think he’s “giving away spoilers” with his most recent comments.

Punk shocked the wrestling world after he made his needle-moving debut on AEW Rampage on the 20th of August. The former WWE Champion signalled his return to pro wrestling after a seven-year hiatus by challenging former TNT Champion Darby Allin to a match at All Out.

Speaking to his former WWE Backstage colleague Renee Paquette on her Oral Sessions podcast, Punk was listing people he’d like to step in the ring with in AEW, and he might have the perfect tag team partner to face the current AEW World Tag Team Champions, The Young Bucks:

“I want to wrestle The Young Bucks. I gotta find the right tag partner for that. […] I mean, if we’re fantasy booking – when’s this come out? Saturday? I don’t think it’s necessarily giving away spoilers it’s just me putting my booker hat on, of all the possibilities I would do CM Punk and the American Dragon versus The Young Bucks. It’s so obvious, that’s what you do.”

American Dragon was the nickname of Daniel Bryan when he was known as Bryan Danielson before he embarked on his WWE career.

The rumours of Bryan signing with AEW began around the same time that the rumours of Punk’s return to wrestling began to surface. It was originally reported that Bryan could debut for the company at AEW Grand Slam but things could well have changed ahead of All Out.

For a spell in late 2013 in WWE Punk and Bryan formed a short-lived tag team as they feuded with both The Shield and The Wyatt Family. Following the 2014 Royal Rumble, Punk walked out of the company and Bryan was launched into the stratosphere through the support of his fans who propelled him to winning the main event of WrestleMania 30.
