Despite agitating for it for years now, KENTA has decided that a dream match with CM Punk is never going to happen.
The NJPW star has been calling out Punk ever since the Second City Saint made his All Elite Wrestling debut back in 2021. The rivalry stems from Punk’s use of the GTS, a move he has admitted he “stole” from the Japanese star.
With Forbidden Door approaching, it has been reported that the match has been discussed for the cross-promotional show.
Unfortunately, the current STRONG Openweight Champion began changing his stance on the bout as it became more of a possibility, claiming that his payoff for such a clash was now the most important thing. To compound matters, Punk himself is said not to be “thrilled” with the idea.
Most recently, Lil’K hit out at All Elite Wrestling and New Japan for planning the match “without his permission.” Now, he’s taken things a step further, claiming it’s never going to happen.

Five matches confirmed for AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door
Although Punk vs. KENTA is seemingly off the board, Forbidden Door already has several dream bouts confirmed.
The show will see Bryan Danielson and Kazuchika Okada step into the ring together for the first time to determine who truly is the best wrestler in the world. There will also be a highly-anticipated rematch between Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega with the IWGP United States Championship on the line.
Both companies’ top titles will be on the line as IWGP World Heavyweight Champion SANADA issued an open challenge for the event which was answered by Jungle Boy Jack Perry, while MJF will begrudgingly defend the AEW World Title against NJPW’s Ace, Hiroshi Tanahashi.
Zack Sabre Jr will also get a shot at gold as he challenges Orange Cassidy for the International Championship.
