The infamous CM Punk and Jack Perry altercation was witnessed by a non-wrestler who was part of AEW All In and has described the events that took place from his perspective.
The backstage fight between Punk and Perry took place at Wembley Stadium when Perry made comments about using real glass in his pre-show match, which referenced a reported disagreement between the two earlier in the year. Punk, who was scheduled to wrestle next, confronted Perry over what took place and physicality ensued.
Both men were sent home from the show and later suspended, with Punk being fired less than a week later. Tony Khan would address the firing publicly on Collision, stating that he feared for his life at Wembley Stadium.
No one currently or previously contracted to AEW has gone on record to state what actually happened on that day, with fans only knowing details through various backstage reports. However, someone who played a role in the event has shed some more light on what happened.
DJ Whoo Kid, who was a part of Swerve Strickland’s entrance, was a recent guest on Jim Norton and Sam Roberts’ show Faction Talk. The musician stated that he saw what took place at All In and described the chaos:
“I was right there, we were next. They put us [backstage] so we were ready to go. They told me this has been ongoing…that was the last straw.
It was the biggest moment for AEW and I guess he [CM Punk] was trying to sabotage that moment. He wasnt trying to go out there. I’m in the middle, I’m the fly on the wall. It was very intense. I always thought it was fake and all this sh*t. It’s more real. It was wrestling back there, DDTs and everything. I’m exaggerating.”
During the conversation, Roberts updated Norton on the events that took place at All In. DJ Whoo Kid continued, stating that Samoa Joe restored order:
“There was a yelling moment where he [Samoa Joe] was like ‘f*ck this shit, this is our moment, everybody get the f*ck out there and do your sh*t.’ I was like I don’t wrestle, but I was about to go out there. It was very intense. I will always respect wrestling after I saw that.”
[Sam Roberts asked who was yelling?] The big guy. The Hawaiian-looking [dude]. It was the guy going ham and I was like, ‘Oh sh*t.’ Then blood was everywhere from the fight before that. They came in and they were bleeding. I was like, ‘what is going on around here?’ This was intense.”
