CM Punk has named Dax Harwood as his wrestler of the year after the FTR star enjoyed another eye-catching outing on AEW Dynamite.
2022 might only be five months old but it has already been a banner year in the life of Dax Harwood.
He and FTR tag team partner Cash Wheeler, are currently the AAA World Tag Team Champions, as well as the Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions. Furthermore, the team have earned acclaim across the board for a number of their matches, notably against The Briscoes at ROH Supercard of Honor, and the Young Bucks on AEW Dynamite.
Even more impressively, those two matches came only five days apart.
As well as his tag team exploits, Harwood has also shown off his skills as a singles competitor in recent weeks, with eye-catching showings against Wheeler, Adam Cole and CM Punk.
On May 11th, Harwood was defeated by Adam Cole, meaning that he was eliminated from the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Posting on social media after Dynamite, the tag team star thanked fans for their support.
“I’m just a 5’10 North Carolinian with a less than ideal body. Y’all shouldn’t like me, but I’m damn sure happy y’all do. I went to failure tonight; but I didn’t fail.”
In response, CM Punk wrote that Harwood was his wrestler of the year so far.

Although Harwood lost out to Adam Cole, the win means that the former NXT Champion advances to the semi finals where he will face Jeff Hardy. The Charismatic Enigma won his own way into the next round after a chaotic, stunt-filled match against Darby Allin.
Meanwhile, CM Punk is the number one contender for Hangman Adam Page’s AEW World Championship. The pair are set to meet at Double or Nothing on May 29th with the gold on the line.
