CM Punk has addressed his involvement at WrestleMania.
Following his shock return at Survivor Series, many predicted that Punk’s first Mania match in over a decade would be something special. With Punk also previously being vocal about wanting to main event The Show of Shows, many assumed that 2024 would be his year, likely in a match against World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.
Unfortunately, CM Punk’s dreams of headlining the event came crashing down at the Royal Rumble when the former World Champion suffered a torn tricep in the match. Requiring surgery, Punk made the announcement that he would not be able to compete in Philadelphia. However, despite the injury, Punk will still be at the Lincoln Financial Field in April.
During the March 18th broadcast of Raw, a video package aired to provide fans with an update on Punk’s road to recovery. The former World Champion noted that Mania is in Philadelphia and the man behind the persona, Phil Brooks, shares his name with the city:
“WrestleMania is in Philadelphia,” Punk said. What are the first four letters in Philadelphia? Phil…whether or not I’m invited, it never matters to CM Punk, he’ll be there.”
Punk did not announce what his role would be at the show.
CM Punk To Return To WWE TV
While recovering from injury, Punk has made a number of appearances on behalf of the company, most notably at the WrestleMania press conference that saw Cody Rhodes officially challenge Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. On March 25th, less than 2 weeks before WrestleMania 40, CM Punk will be appearing live on Raw, which will emanate from his hometown of Chicago.
At the Chicago Raw, CM Punk revealed what he would be doing at WrestleMania 40.
