CM Punk Comments On Latest WWE Releases

CM Punk

CM Punk has taken to social media to comment on the latest round of WWE releases, with a few choice words for his former employer.

The Straight Edge star famously left WWE after a lengthy dispute through the first half of 2014. CM Punk wrestled his last match for WWE at the 2014 Royal Rumble and hasn’t appeared in a wrestling ring since.

On June 2nd, WWE released six more Superstars having already released a host of stars on April 15th and as recently as last month.

Following the news that Braun Strowman and five other Superstars had been released, Punk was less than complimentary about WWE.

Responding to a tweet from John Squires which suggested that while WWE have a hugely talented roster, they don’t know what to do with it.

Punk compared to the situation to a blockbuster movie, which was written by “creatively bankrupt nincompoops specifically for an audience of one.”

Of the latest releases the two which are arguably most surprising, are those of Braun Strowman and Aleister Black.

Strowman has been featured heavily in 2021, even challenging for the WWE Title only a few weeks ago at WrestleMania Backlash. However, a new report has suggested that Strowman’s monster WWE contract may have played a role in his departure.

For his part, Aleister Black has only recently returned to WWE TV after being absent for several months. His return was proceeded by a series of vignettes before he appeared back on SmackDown.

Discussing the release on Twitch, Black said that he was neither sad or depressed abut his WWE exit. The former NXT Champion also opened up about his relationship with Vince McMahon and Paul Heyman.
