CM Punk Calls WWE NXT A “Fountain of Youth” As He Relives His Own Developmental Days

CM Punk Calls WWE NXT A

CM Punk has admitted that his time in WWE NXT has brought back some memories.

Closing in on one year since his shock return at Survivor Series, Punk has made multiple appearances on camera for the developmental brand while also giving advice backstage to the future stars of the company.

While speaking with WREG, Punk described the brand as “the fountain of youth” and admitted that it is a fun experience to relive the days when he was too focused on other things:

“I get to relive those days [in OVW] and enjoy the things that I was maybe too career-focused … that I couldn’t enjoy all the present,”

Continuing, Punk also added that he hopes that the stars of NXT will enjoy their time on the brand and will not get too focused on being called up to the main roster:

“We all like to say … this is the future. [These are] the future superstars of SmackDown and Raw and WrestleMania. But I think NXT is its own thing. I think they have such a special thing [in] NXT. I really want them to try to live in the present and enjoy their time there.”

Punk will serve as the special referee in the NXT Championship match between Ethan Page and Trick Williams on October 1st.

Could CM Punk Run NXT?

Having made multiple appearances and taking an active approach while on the show, many have anticipated that Punk could be the one to fill the Shawn Michaels role when The Heartbreak Kid decides to bring his backstage role to an end. In a recent interview, Shawn Michaels commented on CM Punk possibly being his successor.
