CM Punk Botch At Night Of Champions Allegedly Due To WWE Stars’ Inexperience

CM Punk at WWE Night of Champions

A former superstar said that a WWE star’s inexperience caused CM Punk to botch at Night of Champions.

CM Punk unsuccessfully challenged John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship last week at Night of Champions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. During the match, Seth Rollins’ faction interfered, with The Visionary trying to cash in. However, he was unable to do so.

CM Punk took a beating from Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker, who put him through the announcer’s table, which many noted that The Voice of Voiceless botched when he landed awkwardly. However, former superstar Stevie Richards, who wrestled in WWE from 1999 to 2008, felt it was Reed and Breakker who were at fault.

In a recent episode of The Stevie Richards Show, the former superstar shared that Bron and Bronson making a mistake seemed like a false positive, as they had otherwise done excellent work. However, their inexperience showed during that spot, and he noted that they had issues with rushing and timing.

Richards shared that both men probably didn’t practice the double choke slam enough, as they needed to give each other cues and take their time before doing the actual lifting and slamming, which wasn’t present at Night of Champions.

Unfortunately, what happens is Bronson Reed wants to go before Bron Breaker’s set. So as you look right here, they got here and their hand placement is all wrong. So here’s what it should be. They’re using the chest. Bron Breaker has the throat, upper chest. Bronson Reed is underneath him right there. So right away, you may not even have a balanced bump. So as it goes in slow motion, Punk is jumping because he’s feeling Bron Breaker’s rushing with the choke slam bump. So he’s trying to jump as Bronson Reed is squatting down.”

Richards added that although he thought both men were at fault, but mainly put the blame on The Unpredictable Bada** as he was the one seemingly rushing the move. The former superstar added that the CM Punk spot was the first time Breakker was exposed for being green and inexperienced.

Stevie Richards Think The Botch Didn’t Hurt CM Punk’s WWE Night of Champions Match

In the same episode of The Stevie Richards Show, the former superstar shared that, despite the botch, everything else regarding the finish was executed well, from Charles Robinson rushing out, Seth Rollins’ attempt, to John Cena’s ending.

Stevie Richards said that everybody got protected, even the business, and nobody got buried. Although the botch stood out as a “what went wrong moment,” it didn’t hurt CM Punk and John Cena’s Undisputed WWE Championship match.
