Claudio Castagnoli has shown interest in facing a high level opponent at a possible Forbidden Door follow-up

Claudio Castagnoli made his much-anticipated return to the ring at AEW and NJPW’s joint event, Forbidden Door. At the event, Castagnoli replaced the injured Bryan Danielson, became the newest member of the Blackpool Combat Club, and defeated Zack Sabre Jr.

Speaking to the media at Starrcast V, Castagnoli was asked who he wanted to face at a Forbidden Door follow-up.

“I just pick Okada mainly because I’ve known Okada for over ten years actually when he wrestled at CHIKARA,”

“Me and Chris Hero had a house that a lot of the guys stayed at, including Okada, and then I saw him again when he was training in Mexico.”

“I think I have a picture of me and him when I still had hair and when he was not ‘Rainmaker’ yet, so I think there’s definitely a lot of history there. So yeah, that would be one of many guys I would want to face.” (h/t Wrestling Inc)

Kazuchika Okada was also featured at Forbidden Door, taking part in a Fatal 4-Way for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against “Hangman” Adam Page, Adam Cole, and current champion Jay White.

Claudio Castagnoli is the current Ring of Honor World Champion after defeating Jonathan Gresham in the opener at ROH Death Before Dishonor. Castagnoli made his first successful defense of the championship at Saturday’s AEW Battle of the Belts against Konosuke Takeshita.
