Blackpool Combat Club has been a successful quintet thus far in AEW, but Claudio Castagnoli is keen to diversify the group moving forward.
Formed during March’s Revolution pay-per-view, Blackpool Combat Club has quickly become one of the greatest stables in company history. Originally, William Regal led then-rivals Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley into battle, eventually joined by Wheeler YUTA and, most recently, Claudio Castagnoli.
‘The Swiss Superman’ has now spoke of who – if anyone – could join the group’s ranks. Choosing from the women’s division, Castagnoli didn’t hesitate to provide a suitable answer on the AEW Unrestricted podcast:
“I would pick Serena Deeb. I think she’d be a good fit for Blackpool Combat Club.”
Serena Deeb joined AEW following a seminal performance vs. Thunder Rosa in September 2020. Holding the NWA World Women’s Championship during the early history of her run there, ‘The Professor’ enjoyed bouts vs. Tay Conti, Allysin Kay, and Riho.
Deeb is hardly the only woman to be tied to the BCC, with Jamie Hayter having also spoken about the possibility of joining the William Regal-helmed faction. Crucially, she described how if it wasn’t for her partnership with Dr Britt Baker, D.M.D – which appears to be nearing its end – she’d love to join the group:
“Yes, absolutely. I would love to be [in Blackpool Combat Club]. If I wasn’t with Britt, I would be gunning to go to the BCC. It’s just because they kick a**. That’s my sh*t. They do the stuff I love doing. I’m a bit rough around the edges and things like that like a usual British person is. I would love to be under their wing and learn from them and be more of a lethal weapon. I’ll be the new Steve Blackman [laughs].”
As it stands, Blackpool Combat Club remains the encompassing group of William Regal, Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, Wheeler YUTA, and Claudio Castagnoli.
