Claudio Castagnoli has named the dream opponents he hopes to face in AEW in the future.
At AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door, Claudio Castagnoli made his highly anticipated All Elite Wrestling debut following his departure from WWE.
At the event, the Swiss Superman replaced Bryan Danielson in a match against New Japan’s Zack Sabre Jr. The same night, it was revealed that Castagnoli was the newest member of The Blackpool Combat Club alongside Danielson, Jon Moxley, and Wheeler Yuta.
Having competed as Cesaro in WWE for over a decade, Castagnoli’s move has opened the door to a host of never-seen-before matches against a wide range of wrestlers both old and young.
Speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, Castagnoli discussed some potential opponents he would like to face with the WWE Hall of Famer.
“Daniel Garcia and Wheeler Yuta are definitely on my list. Yuta, obviously, less so because we’re both in the Blackpool Combat Club together, so maybe teaming up with him.
“Oh my God, the Lucha Brothers. they’re both amazing. I was in a Ladder Match with them. Then there’s Andrade and RUSH, who are both amazing stars.
“I haven’t wrestled The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega in a long time. So, of course, I think that will be on a lot of people’s lists.
“I haven’t had a match with Chris Jericho that was like — I’ve faced him a lot on live events and maybe one or two TV matches but they were not very long, so that will be something else.”
Castagnoli went on to then name the likes of Miro, John Silver, Dante Martin, and the recently returned MJF as stars he would also be interested in facing.
Since Forbidden Door, the former WWE United States Champion has battled the likes of Konosuke Takeshita, Dustin Rhodes and, most recently, FTR’s Dax Harwood in singles competition.
Castagnoli was also given a shot at the ROH World Heavyweight title against Johnathan Gresham at ROH Death Before Dishonor 2022 and his subsequent victory gave him his first ever World Championship belt.
