New Japan USA star Clark Connors has contracted COVID-19 and will miss his scheduled appearance at the LA Comic-Con.
LA Dojo graduate Clark Connors is currently experiencing ‘mild symptoms’ having recently been diagnosed with COVID-19, according to a statement from New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Connors had been set to join the LA Comic-Con this weekend, forming part of a three-man panel alongside Fred Rosser and Jay White, but has since been replaced by Gabriel Kidd.
‘The Wild Rhino’ tweeted out his disappointment at the news but confirmed that he had been able to ‘catch it early and isolate immediately’.
Sorry gang. I was really looking forward to meeting everyone at Comic-Con.
Thankfully, due to NJPW's testing guidelines I was able to catch it early and isolate immediately. I am vaccinated so hopefully this will pass quickly. Again, sorry for my absence this weekend. Be well -CC https://t.co/4De1LQZNlE— Clark Connors (@ClarkConnors) December 3, 2021
Per New Japan’s statement, Connors’ status for the December 9th ‘Nemesis’ show, on which he was set to team with Jordan Clearwater to face Chris Bey and Hikuleo, will be subject to a negative COVID-19 test.
Having graduated from Katsuyori Shibata’s LA Dojo earlier this year, Connors has been an integral part of New Japan’s surging US branch and had recently been feuding with Will Ospreay’s United Empire stable.
For those looking to attend, New Japan’s LA Comic-Con schedule is as follows:
Friday, December 3rd – 6pm-8pm – Gabriel Kidd meet and greet
Saturday, December 4th – 10:30am – NJPW panel with Gabriel Kidd, Jay White and Fred Rosser
Saturday, December 4th – 1pm-3pm – Jay White meet and greet
Sunday, December 5th – 1pm-3pm – Fred Rosser meet and greet
Everyone at Inside The Ropes wishes Clark the best in his recovery.
