More information has been provided on the previously reported ban on intentional bleeding in TNA, which sent the rumour mill into overdrive regarding what the edict meant for the company.
At the start of the month, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that following a TNA talent meeting, blading or heavy bleeding was banned with immediate effect. The reasons cited for the ban were to protect the talent and to also be mindful of current partners and those who may be approached in the future. However, according to a new update, intentional bleeding has not been outlawed entirely.
As reported by Jon Alba of The Takedown on SI, TNA talent and officials reached out to first indicate that the meeting was misrepresented. Additionally, company President Carlos Silva clarified that there was no ban in place. Silva stated that the promotion are remaining mindful of the amount of bloodshed on the show given potential partners, but the brutality will be used more sparingly moving forward, given that they have put on 2 bloody matches in a short space of time.
Moving forward, Silva stated that if creative feels that a story warrants the increased violence, then it would be something that they are open to, while also adding that heavy blood can lead to logistical issues in the batch tapings, e.g. the ring canvas becoming damaged or stained.
