Christian Cage has had his first AEW Dynamite appearance confirmed by the company, with Cage set to debut on Wednesday, 10th of March.
Cage made his debut at AEW Revolution, making his way to the ring to sign his AEW contract. Making his entrance to a re-worked version of his old TNA theme song, Cage did not address the crowd in attendance. AEW has since announced on Twitter that he will be speaking for the first time in the company on Wednesday.
Another recent AEW signing Paul Wight had teased that a ‘hall of fame worthy’ star would be making their debut at the event. Rumours and speculation ran rampant on social media over the intervening days with many names mentioned.
Christian Cage made his last wrestling appearance in January at the WWE Royal Rumble event. As a surprise entrant in the men’s Rumble match Cage would make it to the final four before being eliminated by Seth Rollins. That match was won by Cage’s long-time tag team partner, Edge.
Jam-Packed Dynamite Scheduled
Also confirmed for Dynamite is a six-woman tag team match. Maki Itoh, Dr Britt Baker and Nyla Rose will face Hikaru Shida, Ryo Mizunami and Thunder Rosa. This match was made after Itoh, Baker and Rose attacked Shida and Mizunami after their AEW Women’s Championship match at Revolution. Thunder Rosa would make the save, chasing the three women off.
The TNT Title is scheduled to be defended on Dynamite. Scorpio Sky defeated five other men to win the ‘Face Of The Revolution’ ladder match to earn the title shot. Sky will face champion Darby Allin who is coming off the back of a brutal street fight at Revolution. Allin teamed with Sting in the cinematic affair to defeat Brian Cage and Ricky Starks.
One half of the AEW Tag Team Champions will also be in action. Matt Jackson of The Young Bucks will face Rey Fenix one-on-one. Fenix was the last man standing in the Casino Tag Team Royal. That means he and partner PAC will receive an AEW Tag Team Championship match at some point in the future.
Chris Jericho will lead his Inner Circle in a war council meeting. The group will look to assess their future coming off the back of an unsuccessful night at Revolution.
