Christian Cage To Challenge For Both The AEW And IMPACT World Titles

Christian Cage

Kenny Omega will defend his AEW World Championship against Christian Cage at AEW All Out on September 5th. Not only that, Cage will challenge for Omega’s IMPACT World Championship on the premiere of AEW Rampage on August 13th.

Omega and The Elite have been involved in a feud with the Dark Order and Hangman Adam Page, but things between Page and his partners have unravelled in recent weeks. After being defeated by The Elite on July 28th, Page and the Dark Order missed out on the chance to challenge for AEW’s World and Tag Team Titles respectively.

On the following episode of Dynamite, Page told his partners that he wanted to do things on his own. Later on the show, Page was beaten down and left laying by The Elite.

This meant that Kenny Omega was without a challenger heading into All Out. However, with victory against The Blade at Homecoming, Christian Cage rose to the top of AEW’s rankings. Not only that, Cage remains undefeated since debuting in AEW back in March.

On the August 11th episode of Dynamite it was announced that Cage will challenge for the AEW World Championship at All Out. However, there was more to come.

The show opened with The Elite in action against the Sydal brothers and Dante Martin. After Omega and The Young Bucks picked up the win, Cage and Jurassic Express came to the ring.

Don Callis referred to Cage as the ‘Stamford Stooge’ before talking up Omega’s newest challenger. Cage quickly fired back saying that Omega would be in action in Pittsburgh for Rampage. The former WWE Superstar said that he’d spoken to Tony Khan and IMPACT EVP Scott D’Amore and it had been agreed that he would meet Omega at Rampage for the IMPACT World Championship.

Elsewhere on the debut episode of Rampage, Britt Baker will defend her AEW Women’s World Title against Red Velvet.

It was also recently announced that AEW Rampage will be available live for UK fans on Fite TV.
