Christian Cage Addresses How Long Is Left On His AEW Contract

Christian Cage has discussed his current AEW contract and plans for when his in-ring career comes to an end.

First signing with the promotion at Revolution 2021, Cage arrived with the mantra of out working everyone and looked to prove a point now that he was able to wrestle again after being forced to retire back in 2014. While his in-ring work was great and saw Cage be the one to dethrone Kenny Omega and win the Impact World Championship, the heel turn and ruthless promos sent Cage to the next level and arguably the top heel in the entire company.

Fast forward to All Out 2023 and Cage sat beside Tony Khan at the press scrum holding the TNT Championship. Feeling vindicated that he had proved all the doubters wrong, Christian Cage confirmed that he had re-signed with AEW and to a “big fat contract.” Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Cage stated that he had no intentions of retiring but would reassess his options when his current contract runs out, which will be in around 3 years:

“I always said that I would do it till it wasn’t fun and that was my barometer on it. How can I not be having fun right now? have no timeline, I signed a contract. I think I have another three years left on this contract. So we’ll get to the end of that, and then see what happens.

But you know, I feel like, I have a lot of knowledge. I feel like I don’t know everything, but I know a lot. And I feel like, I think the business differently and I layout matches and I see matches differently than other people do. I would like to, at some point, when the time is right to obviously give back to the business that has done what it’s done for me.”

Recently Christian Cage was denied a trademark due to opposition from WWE.

Christian Cage Unhappy With Important Match

Although Cage’s official return took place at the 2021 Royal Rumble, a match on WWE TV 6 months prior saw the former TNT Champion compete in an unsanctioned match. During the same interview, Christian Cage explained why he felt that it was a match that let people down.

Helping the next generation, one AEW star stated that they are very thankful for the advice given to them by Christian Cage.
