Chris Jericho Finally Breaks Silence On WWE Return Rumors; AEW Status Addressed

AEW and WWE are in a Chris Jericho tug-of-war

Amid the ongoing rumors of a potential WWE return, Chris Jericho finally gave his thoughts about it and addressed his AEW status at the same time.

Chris Jericho last appeared on AEW television on the April 9 episode of Dynamite when he confronted his Learning Tree pupils, Big Bill and Bryan Keith. This stemmed from his ROH World Championship loss against Bandido at Dynasty in a Title vs Mask match. Last month, The Learning Tree liked a social media post about his AEW deal expiring in December 2025 and a potential return to WWE, depending on the situation. From there, numerous rumors started to swirl, and suggestions were made that he could take the latter option to finish his legendary career.

Jericho addressed all the talks and gossip in an interview with the Daily Mail (via Denise Salcedo) during Halloween Horror Nights. The 54-year-old legend said AEW was the best thing to happen in wrestling because it provided an option and clarified he won’t be leaving.

The best thing that could happen in wrestling is AEW, and the fact that there’s two huge promotions that you can choose from just makes it better for the guys. It makes it better for the fans and everybody in between. So I’m not going anywhere for a while,” Jericho stated.

The Learning Tree revealed he’s still with the Jacksonville-based promotion but didn’t rule out a return to Stamford, Connecticut.

“’m still with AEW for right now. Would I go back to WWE? I wouldn’t be opposed to it; we’ll just have to see what happens. But the best thing that could happen is to have two great teams that you can play for, and that just makes everything bigger and more exciting,” he added.

Eric Bischoff Thinks Chris Jericho Is Using WWE To Put Pressure On AEW President Tony Khan

Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff believed Chris Jericho was out of television to get back in shape and prepare for his return.

The Hall of Famer suggested The Learning Tree was just stirring the pot about a WWE comeback so that he could put pressure on AEW President & CEO Tony Khan into offering him a “fat” contract.

Chris Jericho’s current AEW deal will end in December this year, as mentioned earlier. It will be interesting to see whether he will return to WWE in the near future.
