Former AEW Champion Chris Jericho has revealed that there is a world of difference between AEW and WWE’s approaches to travel, with his current employer’s easily being the better of the two.
Chris Jericho worked for WWE for almost two decades, with the gruelling travel schedule that involved both within the US and around the world.
The multi-time WWE Champion made his last appearance for his former employer in April 2018 and – after competing in several matches for NJPW and making a surprise appearance at the independent All In event – announced in January 2019 that he would be joining the fledgling AEW.
Speaking to former WWE writer and Hollywood icon Freddie Prinze Jr. on his Wrestling with Freddie podcast, the former AEW Champion discussed how the company’s differed in how they organised travel for their stars, saying that AEW do it “a million times better”.
“AEW’s treatment is a million times better than WWE’s ever was. The Khan family are owners of sports teams, so they come at it from a sports standpoint.
“I never had hotels and cars provided ever. Ever! Ever in the 30 years of working in the States, if I did a one-off or something. But they would never take care of that, AEW does.”
He went on to explain, though, that the most important thing is having a passion for wrestling, which will lead to everything else falling into place.
“The most important thing is if you wanna be there and have a passion for it, the rest of it falls into place.”
During the same interview, Chris Jericho also claimed that WWE has issues with creating new stars, and discussed how AEW had to concentrate on doing that right off the bat.
