Chris Jericho has talked up the impact that Jay White will have on AEW after signing with the company.
The former IWGP Champion returned to Dynamite on April 5th running in to attack Ricky Starks as he prepared to take on Juice Robinson. The appearance from White came after months of speculation about his future.
This included reports that WWE was increasingly confident of landing the star, although that confidence had waned prior to WrestleMania 39. Interestingly, it has been suggested that White chose to sign with AEW following Vince McMahon’s increasing involvement in WWE.
During an appearance on the Battleground podcast, Chris Jericho ran down AEW’s accomplishments and looked forward to making more history. As part of the conversation, Jericho commented on the signing of White, claiming that it was proof that the company still has incredible momentum.
“Jay White, what a great example of us still having momentum. Hottest free agent in the world. Silver platter for WWE. The guy is 6’4”, he’s international, he has the accent, which chicks love. He’s a great worker, great heel, great babyface. He chose AEW. If that doesn’t tell you that something is going on with us, I don’t know what will. Just to continue to build that momentum is a very exciting prospect,”
