Chris Jericho revealed a hilarious nickname he had for Triple H that was inspired by the British Royal Family!
A man of many names, Triple H has been known as the Cerebral Assassin, The Game, and even the King of Kings. However, speaking on the True Geordie podcast, Chris Jericho revealed that he had another name for Paul Levesque, one that was inspired by the British Royal Family and intended to take a dig at the multi-time World Champion having to wait for a long time to assume control of WWE.
“I used to call Triple H ‘Prince Charles. Prince Charles [isn’t] king, right, until the Queen passes away. And she’s been there 30, 40 years. She ain’t going anywhere. Triple H is the Prince Charles of wrestling, in that he’s supposed to take it over, but it might be a long time. I think Vince [McMahon] is 78, so it could be another 20 years. And he’s not going anywhere. I don’t think Vince will ever give up the throne.”
Levesque’s wife Stephanie McMahon recently took on the role of CEO of the company when her father Vince McMahon stepped down amidst allegations of misconduct. He is currently under investigation by the WWE Board of Directors, but remains heavily involved in his creative duties and is said to be doing “business as usual” despite the investigation.
It’s no secret that Jericho and Helmsley haven’t always seen eye to eye, with the two having legitimate heat throughout much of their WWE careers that stemmed from backstage politics.
