Chris Jericho has detailed a brief interaction he once had with Roman Reigns’ father Sika, being told to “f*ck off” by the WWE Hall of Famer!
Even the world’s greatest pro wrestlers start off their fandom the same way everyone else does – as fans. Chris Jericho was a diehard fan from a young age it seems, years before he embarked on his multi-World Championship-winning career.
‘The Wizard’ met several wrestling stars during his youth, one of whom was Sika, who formed The Wild Samoans tag team with Afa. However, as detailed by Jericho himself, the meeting between the duo didn’t go quite to plan.
Explaining his brief interaction with Sika on his Talk Is Jericho podcast, Chris Jericho recalled being told to “f*ck off” after requesting the heralded grappler’s autograph:
“They actually would do vignettes of Mr Fuji having him eat raw fish and he couldn’t speak English. I walked up [to Sika] with a pen and a paper and I was like, ‘Please…sign. Sign name. You…sign name with the pen. He looked at me. He goes ‘F*ck off, kid,’ and I didn’t care that he told me to F off, all I cared was like, ‘He speaks English! Did anybody else hear that?’”
Born into the Anoa’i family, Sika has five children, two of whom also made it to WWE. Roman Reigns is of course the most notable, but the late Rosey was another of Sika’s children, enjoying celebrated partnerships with Jamal in Three Minute Warning, and with The Hurricane, with who he won the World Tag Team Championships alongside.
Beginning his career in October 1990, Chris Jericho achieved success in a plethora of noteworthy promotions, including WWE, WCW, ECW, and NJPW. He’s been with All Elite Wrestling since its 2019 inauguration, being the inaugural AEW World Champion and most recently capturing the ROH World Championship.
