Ahead of a huge tag team bout at AEW Worlds End, Chris Jericho has reunited with an old friend.
Back in September, Jericho faced his longtime ally Sammy Guevara at the Grand Slam edition of Dynamite. While the bout was supposed to end rising tensions between the pair, things exploded in Jericho’s face after he beat Guevara.
Following the match, the two hugged, only for Guevara to kick the Demo God below the belt, and joined the Don Callis Family, turning his back on his former friend.
The two were on opposite sides of the ring again at WrestleDream, where Guevara, Will Ospreay, and Konosuke Takeshita defeated Jericho, Kenny Omega, and Kota Ibushi. During the match, Sammy Guevara suffered a concussion which put him on the shelf for months.
The star made his return on the December 27th edition of Dynamite, only for Callis and his Family to turn on him and launch a vicious assault. Luckily, Jericho was there to make the save, and the two hugged in the ring, only to be attacked by the AEW Tag Team Champions Big Bill and Ricky Starks.
Finally, Sting and Darby Allin saved the pair, setting the stage for a massive 8-Man Tag Team match at Worlds End.
Chris Jericho And Sammy Guevara Bury The Hatchet
On the following episode of Rampage, Jericho called out Guevara to explain why he turned on him in the first place. Guevara said it was hard living in Jericho’s shadow, but admitted he was blaming The Ocho for his own shortcomings.
The two apologised to each other, and Jericho announced that Le Sex Gods were back and that they would challenge for the Tag Team Titles in future.
