Chris Jericho Reacts To NXT vs. AEW Ratings: Our Show Was Better

In a recent head-to-head clash between AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT, NXT emerged as the victor in terms of viewership and the coveted 18-49 demo rating. However, Chris Jericho remains unfazed by the outcome.

According to Jericho speaking to The Messenger, WWE’s success can be attributed to its ability to bring in top stars, a luxury AEW cannot always rely on.

You know, you can only bring in Cena and Undertaker and Cody and everybody else so much because nobody wants to work on their secondary show all the time. And it was a fun little, ‘Hey, F-you AEW.’ I didn’t even really worry about it.

Despite NXT’s higher rating in the key demo, Jericho pointed out that it was only their fourth-highest rating and believes that AEW’s show was ultimately superior. Jericho did suggest to AEW CEO Tony Khan that they should counter WWE‘s strategy by bringing in celebrities like Shaq, Snoop Dogg, and Mike Tyson, who have made appearances on AEW programming in the past. However, AEW chose to focus on their own talent and shows instead.

I told Tony, ‘Well if you want to fire back, bring in Shaq and Snoop Dogg and those types of guys, Mike Tyson. But Tony didn’t do that. We relied on our show and our guys and our girls, and that’s the way it’s always been for us.

Jericho warned NXT not to become too complacent with their victory, as he believes they only won by a small margin. He likened the situation to a football game where one team brings in all their top stars from previous years and wins by a narrow margin. Despite the outcome, Chris Jericho confidently asserted that AEW’s show was better than NXT’s.

This would be like a football game where you bring in all of your top stars from years prior and beat the other team 30-26. It’s like a video game. Let’s bring in Tom Brady from five years ago and then play him for one game against Chris Jericho. OK, you guys won, but you only won 30-26.

So, don’t get too far up your own ass because you didn’t do that good of a job as far as crushing us. And our show was better than theirs, quite frankly. So, it doesn’t bother me.

What’s Next For Chris Jericho?

Chris Jericho recently made an announcement that he will be making his DDT Pro-Wrestling debut in November. He plans to take on Konosuke Takeshita on his home turf as Jericho has been embroiled in a feud with Takeshita and the rest of the Don Callis family as of late.
