As drama continues to unfold around CM Punk in AEW, Chris Jericho has been praised for stepping up as a calming presence.

The Jericho Appreciation Society and Blackpool Combat Club have been at odds for months in AEW, and at All Out, Chris Jericho was able to defeat Bryan Danielson in singles action.

However, the talk of the wrestling world after the events of All Out have little to do with the in-ring action and everything to do with the post-show media scrum, where CM Punk launched a verbal attack on AEW EVP’s Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks along with calling out Adam Page. Omega and The Young Bucks reportedly threatened to walk out of the company in light of the comments, and allegedly approached Punk afterward in a confrontation that escalated quickly.

Further details emerged throughout the day, with some reports saying that CM Punk threw the first punch at Matt Jackson and that Ace Steel was lucky to have avoided jail after reportedly throwing a chair at Nick Jackson and biting Kenny Omega.

In light of the melee, Fightful Select reports that Chris Jericho has been credited by several sources within the company as someone who’s stepped up in a leadership role in recent weeks. After the contentious CM Punk appearance at the All Out media scrum, Jericho made an appearance and was praised for his calm demeanor, answering questions about his match with Danielson in which he put over his opponent as one of the best he’s ever faced.

The Fightful Select report also notes that Jericho spoke at the recent AEW talent meeting and was a welcome presence there.
