Chris Jericho revealed that fellow Jericho Appreciation Society member Jake Hager once saved his life while the two were in WWE together!

The latest episode of Talk is Jericho featured the members of the Jericho Appreciation Society, and during the chat, Chris Jericho revealed that his fellow faction member Jake Hager once saved his life during an overseas WWE tour.

Jericho told the story of a time when the two traveled to Abu Dhabi as part of a three-show tour with WWE. Though attendance wasn’t high during these shows, the crowds featured a number of very wealthy people who paid a lot of money to be there.

Hager and Jericho went out to a club to party when they weren’t wrestling. Jericho began describing a scene in which a fellow club patron was being unruly, yelling and screaming, and Hager added that he was “getting a little touchy, grabbing people.” The man’s behavior wasn’t appreciated, and Jericho gave him a hip check to try to get him in line.

After a few hours, they left the club and saw the man waiting for them outside with some friends, enraged by the incident. Chris Jericho recalled that the man boasted about his wealth and threatened to put a bounty on the former AEW Champion’s head.

“He goes ‘My dad owns 27% of this company. And I’m putting a bounty on your head. In the next 24 hours, you are going to be killed and I’m gonna pay them $7 million.’”

Jericho was ready for a fight, even putting his hotel room keys between his fingers in anticipation of a brawl, but he recalled that Jake Hager stepped in to be the voice of reason and save the day.

“I remember Jake going, ‘Don’t do it man. This is the wild west. They will kill you here. They’ll f*cking string you up, they’ll hang you.’ The only reason I didn’t take a wild swing with my stupid key was because Jake told me not to … If had not told me not to fight this guy, I would have [fought] him, and who knows what would have happened, so therefore, in pro wrestling logic, Jake Hager saved my life!”

There is a Cagematch record of three shows in Abu Dhabi that seems to confirm the timeline Chris Jericho laid out on the podcast.

At AEW Double or Nothing, the Jericho Appreciation Society was victorious over the Blackpool Combat Club in a brutal Anarchy in the Arena match that saw both factions brawl all over the Las Vegas venue.
