Chris Jericho Gives Honest Opinion On WWE Hall Of Fame

Chris Jericho is not desperate to be honoured in the WWE Hall of Fame and explained the reason why.

As has been seen throughout wrestling history, legends who have found success both in and out of the company have made their return over WrestleMania weekend to be recognised for their accomplishments. Inducted by someone close to them, the inductees are given their moment to reflect on their achievements in what is generally one of the final chapters of their professional careers.

Having won the World Championship 4 times, still holding the record for the most Intercontinental Championship reigns and having headlined WrestleMania in 2002 among his many accomplishments, Jericho is more than worthy of receiving the induction when the time comes. However, if the AEW star was approached for the honour, it doesn’t appear that it would be a certainty that the former WWE star would accept it.

Speaking with the Toronto Sun, Jericho stated that he doesn’t think the Hall of Fame is real, adding that while he is happy others receive the honour, he is content with his career without it:

“I’m not one of those guys who cares about the Hall of Fame because I don’t think it’s really real anyway. In some ways, it’s like, ‘Eh, whatever.’ In other ways, I want to pull a Sex Pistols and just refuse to show up. Send a letter saying, ‘Do not mention my name,’ like Axl Rose did. What a great wrestling thing to do. It doesn’t matter to me, it really doesn’t. It’s great that guys go in there and I’m glad they get a chance to, but I’m already a Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is up here [points to head].

It’s more for the fans. At this point in time, I could get put in the Hall of Fame and maybe get booed out of the building. We’ll see what happens. For right here, right now, I’m enjoying what I’m still doing and I definitely wouldn’t go in the Hall of Fame if I’m still actively performing in the ring. We’ll see where it goes. For right now, I feel good, I’m doing great work, and when I feel it’s time to hang up the boots, I will do so. Until then, I’m enjoying being part of the business, as I always have for the last 34 years.”

Chris Jericho Weighs In On State Of AEW

Having been a part of the AEW roster since day 1, Jericho has seen the highs and lows of the company in the past 6 years. While the promotion found success in its earlier years, fans have noticed a drop off in live attendance and ratings in recent months. Aware of the criticisms, Chris Jericho defended AEW.
