CM Punk has been absent from AEW since September, but the speculation around the star shows little sign of slowing.
The former World Champion was always going to be set for a spell out of the ring after suffering a triceps injury during his match with Jon Moxley at All Out, but his actions after the show seemed to make sure that he was off television altogether.
However, it was recently reported that Punk would soon be “available” to return should AEW want to use him. But fans’ hopes were quickly dashed by a further report which stated that no fences have been mended between Punk and The Elite.
To tip the speculation completely over the edge, Chris Jericho has mentioned Punk on social media. In response to a tweet from a fan discussing their match at WrestleMania 28, Jericho wrote that he always loved working with the star, even tagging Punk in his tweet.
This seems to signal quite the turnaround from Jericho who reportedly told Punk he was a “cancer to the locker room, and a detriment to the company,” in the wake of All Out. There have also been reports that Jericho was among a number of top AEW stars who assured the locker room that Punk wouldn’t appear for the company again.
I always loved working with @CMPunk …. https://t.co/AHorYZMOuM

What Next For CM Punk?
While it remains to be seen whether CM Punk will ever return to AEW, it seems he won’t be going to WWE either, at least for now. There had been speculation that his friend Ace Steel attended the Royal Rumble in an effort to help broker a deal between the two parties. However, it has now been reported that this wasn’t the case.
