Chris Jericho has claimed that Eddie Kingston and Randy Orton are more similar than many recognise.
For much of 2022 Chris Jericho and Eddie Kingston have been at war. They’ve battled as part of opposing factions as well as in a series of singles matches.
Their rivalry has taken in Anarchy in the Arena, Blood and Guts, Barbed Wire Matches as well as terrifically physical battle at Revolution. However, despite the heated words exchanged on television and in interviews promoting their on-screen contests, Jericho has now moved to praise his rival.
Speaking on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Jericho explained that Kingston reminds him of WWE star Randy Orton, as neither man quite realises how good they are.
“Eddie Kingston reminds me of Randy Orton, and I’ll tell you the reason why. Polar opposites in image and gimmick, but neither one of them quite realize just how good they are. They kind of think it’s funny to kind of downplay themselves, but they’re both so good, and Eddie doesn’t quite get it yet.”
Jericho added that he expects Kingston to continue to improve and claim the World Championship.
“When he does [get it], he’s gonna be a world champion. Not that he doesn’t now, but he still has an inner demon. I think those are going away, because he realizes just how good he is, but I saw from the start.”
During the storied rivalry between the pair Chris Jericho threw a fireball at the Mad King, declaring himself to be a wizard. Elsewhere during the interview, the new ROH World Champion revealed the surreal build-up to the spot and just how far he had to go to make it happen.
