Anyone attending or appearing at the third Rock ‘N’ Rager At Sea put on by Chris Jericho will have to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 according to the company putting on the cruise.
The third cruise being put on by the former AEW World Champion is due to set sail from Miami on the 21st of October and will visit the Bahamas before returning on the 25th.
The Health and Safety section of the Chris Jericho Cruise website confirms those attending the event will be required to show proof of vaccination:
“Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings announced the launch of its SailSAFE health and safety program on April 5, 2021. This includes required vaccinations for all guests and crew on NCL sailings through December 31, 2021.All guests sailing on our 2021 events are required to be fully vaccinated at least 2 weeks prior to departure in order to board. Vaccines combined with multi-layered and robust preventative health and safety measures, including universal Covid-19 testing prior to embarkation, will help us provide a uniquely safe and healthy environment. ”
“Each guest must submit proof they have completed the full cycle of required doses for the vaccine administered at least 2 weeks prior to their sail date. Guests who are not old enough to be vaccinated will not be allowed on these sailings. However, we eagerly await an expansion of the age criteria for vaccinations by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration so we can once again welcome these guests back on board.”
“As plans and protocols continue to evolve in the months leading up to our first 2022 sailing, we cannot yet confirm if guests will be required to be vaccinated on our sailings beyond 2021, but we will continue to follow the science and expert advice.”
The cruise was originally scheduled for February 2021 but had been postponed due to prevailing restrictions and uncertainty due to the pandemic.
Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics obtained a statement from Sixthman [the subsidiary of Norwegian Cruise Lines producing the cruise] that confirmed the proof of vaccination extended to talents appearing on the cruise as well as paying guests:
“We can confirm that in compliance with Norwegian Cruise Line’s health and safety protocol and 100% vaccine requirement, everyone on board all of our 2021 events on Norwegian Gem including all guests, crew, and talent will be vaccinated against COVID-19.”
The Chris Jericho Cruise holds an interesting place in wrestling history with the first one taking place in October 2018 when Jericho still had a relationship with WWE. Jericho has told how he first contacted them with the idea to partner with NXT on the cruise but was turned down and looked to Ring Of Honor instead. At that time Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks were part of that company.
The headline match of the Jericho Cruise on that occasion saw a Bullet Club team that featured Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega face Alpha Club of Chris Jericho and The Young Bucks. Just over two months later on the 1st of January 2019, All Elite Wrestling was announced to the world.
Several members of the AEW roster including AEW Women’s World Champion Dr. Britt Baker DMD have been announced for the cruise alongside WWE Hall Of Famers Kurt Angle, Bully Ray, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, and Ted DiBiase.
