Chris Jericho Credits Latest Career Move To WWE: “We Never Were Taught To Act Like A**holes”

Chris Jericho Defends AEW's Future Amid Criticisms

Chris Jericho has opened up on his recent career move.

A professional wrestler and a musician for the majority of his career, ROH World Champion Chris Jericho recently picked up another career move. Acting since the mid-2000s, Jericho’s acting career recently took off, with several big hits such as, ‘Terrifier 3’, ‘Terrifier 2’, and his latest, ‘Dark Match’. The Learning Tree also has two roles lined up in ‘Self Storage’ and one in ‘The Walk-Ons’.

In a recent interview on That Hashtag Show, Jericho opened up on the challenges of pursuing an acting career. In response to the query, he commented that his professional wrestling career instilled in him humility, as he acknowledged WWE’s contribution.

“I don’t think it’s the most challenging, I think it’s the most humbling in a good way. Help me. Tell me what you want. Just because I’m Chris Jericho in this world, and whatever you think of me or don’t think of me, I never come into it with an ego, with any sense of entitlement, with any sense of being a know it all. Help me. What do you want me to do? What can I do to be better? How can we make this scene better? What can we do here and there?

That, I think, is a great trait to have if you come up in the wrestling business, especially in WWE, there is a lot of humbleness. We never were taught to act like a**holes in that company. If you did act like an a**hole, you were told, very specifically, ‘Hey, calm down.’ I think that’s why a lot of wrestlers do really well in acting because none of us come on set with any sort of (ego). We know kind of what we’re doing, but if you have suggestions, please, let’s work together to create the best possible product. I leave my ego at the door. Tell me what you need. If I can’t deliver it, tell me again.

Then, let’s make the best possible project that we can. I think there is a lot of that coming onto any new set because it’s a whole new group of people, especially if they’ve been filming for a couple of weeks and you come in late, that’s already a gang. They have it down. You don’t come in there with your Evian Spray and cigarette in a holder, ‘What are you guys doing?’ No, ‘What have you guys created so far and how can I fit in to add to what you’ve done?’ It’s a team sport at all times.”

Chris Jericho Believes Britt Baker Is Very Valuable To AEW

Amid all the ongoing controversies regarding Britt Baker and AEW, Chris Jericho recently commented that the former women’s champion is a valuable part of the company. Speaking to Zack Heydorn of SI’s The Takedown, he said:

“You’d have to ask Britt that. I haven’t really heard either way. She’s obviously a very valuable part of the company. She is one of the OGs, probably one of our first home grown stars. She does a great job whenever she’s in the ring. I don’t see her leaving or going anywhere. I’m looking forward to having her come back on the show because she has a great character and a great presence and a great fanbase in AEW and the wrestling world.”
