Former AEW World Heavyweight Champion, Chris Jericho, has revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19 in September 2020.
Hot off the heels of WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre, announcing that he had been struck down with the virus, Chris Jericho has now admitted that he’s already had the illness but, like the Scot, experienced zero symptoms.
Throughout the month of September, Chris Jericho was active on AEW television and competed in several bouts against Joey Janela (Dynamite), Sony Kiss (Dynamite), Private Party (Dynamite) and Orange Cassidy (All Out) while suffering from the virus but was permitted to quarantine thanks to the group’s television show being taped twice weekly.
Le Champion has come under much scrutiny in the last few months for his stance on the virus which has killed hundreds of thousands, especially when he staged a Fozzy concert in the middle of a pandemic in Sturgis which was confirmed as a link to over 250,000 cases.
Now, ‘The Demo God’ has taken to his Talk is Jericho Podcast with special guest Dr. Alex Patel to admit that he was diagnosed in autumn:
“I haven’t told anybody this, but I tested positive in maybe September. I had zero symptoms. I had my ten days in isolation and stayed away from everybody. I didn’t have a symptom. I didn’t even know that I had it. I went and got a test, just in general, and it said I was positive. I was like, ‘Really? Are you serious?’ I had nothing. I didn’t have a headache, I didn’t have a cough, which is a lucky thing, but on top of that, once I did have it – and it wasn’t a false positive, because I took three different tests and they were all positive – but now, I have the antibodies.”
Currently on AEW television, Chris Jericho and his Inner Circle have been involved in the storyline with MJF who the group are still unsure about being a member. The star will appear on January 13 in order to give his New Year’s Resolutions but hasn’t competed since December 17, 2020, when he and Friedman defeated Top Flight.
