Chris Jericho Believes Edge Would Benefit From Joining AEW

Chris Jericho shared his thoughts on the possibility of Edge joining AEW.

Edge, who recently wrestled his final match on his WWE contract against Sheamus on Friday Night SmackDown, has been the subject of rumours regarding his future in the industry. Jericho, who has partnered with Edge in the past and held Tag Team Championship gold with him, discussed what The Rated R Superstar could bring to AEW.

In a recent interview on the Superstar Crossover podcast, drawing from his own experience, Jericho compared Edge’s situation to his own departure from WWE, stating that there comes a point where there isn’t much more one can achieve in a particular promotion.

Well, I mean, who’s to say for sure? But if you look at Chris Jericho, for example, where I was in WWE, there really wasn’t much more that I could do there.

Jericho believes that for wrestlers like Edge, who have accomplished everything they can in WWE, joining AEW offers an opportunity to shock fans and embark on a fresh new mission.

You’re there for many years, and you’ve wrestled everybody, and it’s great. But it’s always good to shock people, and to show up with a new kind of mission.

Jericho emphasised the potential for Edge to have a whole new set of matches, a new name, and a revamped look and mindset in AEW.

So I think somebody like Edge, you know, there’s a lot of guys over [in WWE] like this. They’ve kind of done everything they can do there. For him to come to AEW with a whole fresh new coat of paint, a whole new roster of matches that he can have, obviously a new name, which would then, knowing him, knowing me, what I would do is a whole new look—a whole new mindset.

He expressed his excitement about AEW’s success and the presence of a viable alternative to WWE. Jericho clarified that he doesn’t view AEW as a direct competitor but rather as a place where wrestlers can explore new possibilities.

That’s the best thing about having AEW and about us being as successful as we are, is that there’s now a viable alternative, I don’t wanna say, competitor, because it’s not that, but you can now go to either company.

Has Edge Left WWE?

It hasn’t been announced by either Edge or WWE that he has left the company. However, there has been much speculation by fans and industry insiders that his contract is set to expire soon and that he hasn’t re-signed to a new deal with the company. This has led to the speculation that Edge is looking to make the jump to AEW.
