Chris Jericho Believes A Motivated Paul Wight In AEW Is Dangerous

Paul Wight

Chris Jericho believes that Paul Wight can not only teach the younger ‘big guys’ on the roster, but will be a dangerous opponent in the ring.

Speaking as a guest on the podcast ‘Rasslin’ with Brandon F. Walke‪r‘, Jericho was asked about AEW’s latest signing in The Big Show and what we could expect from him now that he is All Elite.

Jericho explains why Paul Wight isn’t a ‘normal’ signing, he transcends what others can offer to AEW. As a new company, having an icon such as Wight, one of the most recognised professional wrestlers of all time on your roster, immediately appeals to people when trying to win new TV deals.

But, a guy like Big Show transcends that.

He’s one of the most recognized pro wrestlers in the world, and when you’re dealing with a new company because it’s only been a year and a half [with AEW], if we want a TV deal in India for example “well who’s on the show? Jericho, yes we know him, Sting we know him, Paul Wight? Oh really, yeah we know him”.

Same thing as I said before, those are the guys that can open the door to get people’s eyeballs on Kenny Omega, and Young Bucks, Darby, Cody, Ricky Starks, etc etc.

The versatility Paul Wight will offer AEW is clear, as a 25+ year veteran of the game he has that perspective and experience that only few have. Be it a charming personality on commentary or a monster in the ring, Jericho believes that Paul will bring it all.

So, he [Wight] is super valuable and also that he has the one thing you can’t teach (well, two, you can’t teach being a giant), but you can’t teach experience. Paul’s got almost as much as I do, probably 25+ years at this point. We’ve got a lot of big guys on our roster who need to think more like big guys, Paul can help with that.

Paul can also be very funny on commentary, he’s very charming, and I know more than anybody, a motivated Big Show, a motivated Paul Wight is dangerous.

He doesn’t have to wrestle every week nor should he, but when he gets the call, and he wants to be there, and wants to prove what he can do, he’s one of the best big man workers that’s ever lived. He’s a great signing for AEW, and I think anybody that doesn’t know for sure, will have their minds changed very, very quickly.

It’s very exciting to see where Paul Wight is placed within AEW, how often will we see him as an on-screen performer and what influence will he have on the AEW’s ‘big guy roster’ such as Lance Archer, Brian Cage, Luchasaurus & Powerhouse Hobbs to name a few.

Paul Wight will be making an appearance on AEW Dynamite tonight (3rd March), all eyes will be on that segment to see what The Giant has on his mind now that he is All Elite.
