Chris Jericho Addresses John Cena's Upcoming WWE Retirement

Chris Jericho has given his thoughts on John Cena’s recent announcement.

Making a surprise appearance at Money in the Bank in Toronto, John Cena told the fans that WrestleMania 41 would be his last as an in-ring competitor and later stated in the post-show press conference that he intends to have his final match in December 2025 after a full calendar year run in WWE.

Jericho and Cena have been opponents and partners on numerous occasions during their time in WWE, most notably in 2005 when Jericho was one of Cena’s first rivals after Cena won the first of his 16 World Championships at WrestleMania 21. Expecting Cena to truly retire by the end of next year, Jericho is looking forward to seeing how the final chapter is written.

Appearing on McGuire on Wrestling, Jericho praised Cena for the way he has mapped out his retirement and his constant connection with the fans:

“My career is already longer than John Cena’s (Jericho responded when the interviewer said he’s going to have a career that goes longer than Cena’s). No, I mean it’s great. John’s always had a great love for wrestling and he’s got a great connection with the fans so I think it’s a cool way to go about it. People know that this is it and John’s not the type of guy to say anything lightly so I’m sure he’s been focused on this and working with the company to make sure it’s right and I’m sure it’s gonna be a really great year-and-a-half for Cena fans and for John Cena himself.”
