IMPACT Wrestling star Chelsea Green has cast doubt on the future of a major UK wrestling show, saying that it has been cancelled.
UPDATE: Wrestling Entertainment Series have now confirmed their inaugural event has been postponed to July 9th.
Sunny Dhinsa and Gzim Selmani – the former Akam and Rezar, respectively – surprised many by confirming the launch of their own wrestling promotion. The company, titled Wrestling Entertainment Series, will premiere with its first event on Saturday, 4 June from Nottingham, England’s Motorpoint Arena.
The Authors Of Pain are scheduled to reunite at the event as the Legion Of Pain where they would take on another former NXT tag team in Steve Maclin and Wesley Blake. The main event for the show is billed as former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman – now known as Adam Scherr – taking on former UFC star Alistair Overeem.
A huge women’s tag team match is also scheduled for the show with IMPACT Wrestling stars going at it. Current IMPACT Knockouts Tag Team Champions Madison Rayne and Tenille Dashwood will team up to face Deonna Purrazzo and Chelsea Green.
However, Green has cast doubt on the whole event as she responded on social media to a FITE TV post that was still advertising the event being available on their platform, saying:
“Actually it’s cancelled.”
The Wrestling Entertainment Series Twitter account has not posted anything since the 28th of May when they advertised Lince Dorado’s involvement as he was set to face the former Mojo Rawley on the show. At the time of writing, WES have not confirmed that the show has been cancelled.
