Chelsea Green suffered a broken wrist during her surprise SmackDown debut, where she participated in a Fatal Four-Way Match.
Attempting to qualify for the SmackDown Women’s Survivor Series team, Green had little involvement in the match after being dropkicked off the apron by eventual winner Liv Morgan. The other participants in the match were Tamina and Natalya. WWE have officially confirmed the injury, as has Green herself.
The injury comes as a particularly big blow due to the reported original plan for the match. In a Fightful Select update it was reported that Green was actually supposed to win the match. The injury forced a change to be called on the fly, with Morgan ultimately getting the pinfall. Fightful reported that the situation was “hectic”.
This marks the second time that Chelsea Green has suffered a broken wrist in WWE, as she unfortunately suffered an eerily similar incident in NXT, breaking her wrist in her first televised match. After her first injury she was absent from NXT for over three months.
She later returned and eventually became the first member of the Robert Stone Brand. However, she parted ways with the manager on the May 27th edition of NXT after teaming with Charlotte Flair, where the duo defeated Rhea Ripley and Io Shirai.
This would prove to be Green’s last match until her Smackdown debut, which she aired her frustrations about recently. The former NXT star had apparently been in-line to be called up to the main roster for months, though the move did not materialise until the latest edition of Smackdown. Green had previously appeared on the December 23rd, 2019 edition of Raw in a losing effort against Charlotte Flair.
