Chelsea Green is already looking to the future ahead of her upcoming match at WWE Money in the Bank.
Following on from her victory on the June 21st episode of SmackDown, Green has secured her place in the ladder match at the upcoming Premium Live Event on July 6th in what will be her first-ever appearance in the Money in the Bank ladder match. With every previous winner going on to become the new Women’s Champion, the odds are very much in Green’s favour should she gain possession of the briefcase.
With Bayley currently holding the top prize on SmackDown, the former Women’s Tag Team Champion is out for revenge after Bayley defeated Green’s best friend Piper Niven at Clash at the Castle. Should Green be successful, she would love to see the title revert back to a previous design.
Taking to social media to address her upcoming match, Green stated that she would campaign to bring back the Divas Championship:
“When I win I’m starting a petition to change the WWE Women’s Championship back to the Divas Championship.”
First introduced in 2008, the Divas Championship served as was first won by Michelle McCool at The Great American Bash and was unified with the Women’s Championship at Night of Champions 2010. The title was retired at WrestleMania 32 where final champion Charlotte Flair won a triple threat match against Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch to become the first holder of the reintroduced Women’s Championship.
Piper Niven Praises Chelsea Green
Green won her first championship in WWE back in July 2023 when she and Sonya Deville became the new Women’s Tag Team Champions. However, shortly after the victory disaster struck as Deville was sidelined with an ACL tear. In need of a partner, Green eventually formed an alliance with Piper Niven to remain the champion. Speaking with Inside The Ropes at Clash at the Castle in Glasgow, Piper Niven admitted that she would not be where she is today if it were not for Chelsea Green serving as her “hype girl.”
