Chelsea Green Details Original Plans For US Title Victory, Was

Chelsea Green has looked back on her Women’s United States Championship victory and how it was originally planned to take place earlier in the year.

At Saturday Night’s Main Event in December 2024, Green made history as she defeated Michin in the finals of the tournament to crown the first-ever Women’s US Champion. While Green and the fans were happy with the result, the SmackDown star recently admitted that the original plan could have made the win even bigger.

Speaking with Click and Tell, Green stated that the finals were originally set for WWE Survivor Series 2024, which took place in Green’s home country of Canada:

“Originally, it was supposed to be in Vancouver (at Survivor Series 2024). That was obviously going to be, I mean, for so many different reasons, the biggest moment of my career. It was already going to be the biggest moment, but to have my friends and family there and for it to be in somewhat of my hometown, close enough to my hometown, like that’s unheard of. People don’t get those moments.”

Chelsea Green “Heartbroken” At WWE Change

Continuing the interview, the Women’s US Champion admitted that while she was upset at the change, she was happy with what took place as it took place in her husband Matt Cardona’s hometown of Long Island, which her family flew out to:

“So, when it was taken away from me, I was heartbroken. I still had all my friends and family at Survivor Series, but I wasn’t on the show. So it was really a moment of just like, ‘oh, like how?’ And it put a little bit of a damper on it until I found out it was going to be in Long Island. That is my husband’s hometown.

So if it couldn’t be in my hometown, at least it’s in Long Island. It’s with all of my in-laws. Everyone in my family ended up flying there anyway. And it was just like the perfect moment. The crowd was amazing. They were chanting my name the entire time from start to finish. I was able to have all my family come back and take pictures with it.”

Chelsea Green is still reigning as the WWE Women’s United States Champion, having held the title for 110 days and counting.

In other news, an update on the possible WWE return of Lana has been provided.

In a separate interview, Samoa Joe commented on the chaos that was WrestleMania 37.
