In a new interview, Chelsea Green has poured cold water on the idea of her continuing to work in the wrestling industry after she hangs up her boots.
The former WWE Superstar made an appearance on ‘PWI Presents: Face Turn With Candace Cordelia‘ alongside her fiancĂ© Matt Cardona and was asked if she would be interested in moving to a backstage role once her in-ring career is over. Green was clear in her response that she had no interest in doing anything beyond performing.
“Never. Not in a million years. You could not pay me to stay in this business if I was not doing what I’m doing. No way.
“I don’t have the passion. I did not grow up as a diehard wrestling fan. I love performing, and I didn’t know that performing was going to lead me down this route. It could have been friggin musical theatre, like, I don’t know. But I ended up in this avenue and this is just where I’m going to stay, but I’m not going to venture outside.”
Since being released from WWE in April 2021, Green has appeared in Ring Of Honor, NWA as well as returning to IMPACT Wrestling. The star previously enjoyed one of the most successful periods of her career with IMPACT winning the Knockouts Title. More recently, she debuted for GCW at their Fight Club event where she helped Cardona regain his Internet Championship from EFFY.
Green touched on whether she plans to commit to one promotion or continue to appear for multiple companies, saying that she hasn’t decided on the route she wants to take yet but would like to make a decision on it in 2022.
“For myself, I don’t know. I’m trying to decide what route I want to go down; if I want to stay kind of dipping my toes everywhere or if I want to jump in with one company. I’m not really sure, but I do feel like I want to make a decision come 2022.”
