Former NXT star Chelsea Green has claimed that someone at the upper end of NXT reached out to Ring Of Honor telling the company not to sign her after she was let go by WWE.
Green was let go by WWE in April 2021 as the company slashed their roster repeatedly in 2021 due to what is being called “budget cuts.” Having had limited opportunities to work on television in WWE, the former IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Champion wasted no time in seeking out places to work once her non-compete clause expired.
The Hot Mess has since debuted for Ring Of Honor and the NWA while also making appearances back in IMPACT as well as for GCW alongside her fiancé Matt Cardona.
Speaking on her own Green With Envy podcast, Chelsea Green made the sensational claim that a higher-up in NXT told Ring Of Honor not to take her on:
“When I debuted at Ring Of Honor this summer, someone at the top of the NXT food chain called them to tell them that they should not hire me. So, let me just get this straight, when I got fired from WWE someone at the top of the NXT food chain called the company who was about to hire me to help me provide food for my family and for myself and told them not to hire me.”
“So this is just me being petty and telling the world a little bit of tea but I can’t believe a company would fire somebody and then try to block them from getting a job somewhere. It makes me sad. Really sad.”
Since making her debut for Ring Of Honor, Chelsea Green has wrestled a handful of times for the company. Ring Of Honor recently announced a hiatus following their upcoming Final Battle show with those under contract able to seek work elsewhere.
