Couples in wrestling are nothing new; but it’s when two people in a relationship work for different or opposing organizations that things really start to get interesting.
Such appears to be the case with Charlotte Flair. Although most attention is given to her relationship with her father, there is also her relationship with her husband Andrade El Idolo (the former Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas) to consider.
Charlotte and Andrade began dating while the two both worked for WWE and Andrade proposed to Charlotte in early 2020. But before they were officially married, Andrade left WWE while Charlotte remained.
Andrade since moved on to wrestle for AEW. His most recent match for that promotion – or anywhere, for that matter – was at All Out 2022 as a participant in the Casino Ladder match.
The reason he hasn’t been seen lately is because he’s recovering from surgery following a torn pectoral muscle that he suffered not long after All Out.
Further complicating matters was the allegation that he was sent home following a backstage altercation with Sammy Guevara.
With Andrade El Idolo’s future somewhat uncertain, his wife Charlotte spoke with Forbes and expressed interest in reuniting with him on-screen.
“I hope so, yes. As long as he’s happy. I just wanna be on camera with him at some point.”
Charlotte Flair comfortable waiting for opportune time for Andrade El Idolo to return to WWE
Additionally, Charlotte wasn’t putting a rush on such things happening. She’s more than comfortable waiting some time for this to happen since returns can happen way down the road. She pointed to the recent returns of both Trish Stratus and Lita as examples of wrestlers coming back many years after peaks/retirements/departures.
I don’t think you can put a timetable in wrestling. I mean, look at Lita and Trish being back how many years later. I’d like to be with him sooner rather than later, but it’s just whatever, you know, destiny holds for us.”
