Charlotte Flair has made history by breaking a Trish Stratus record that had been held for sixteen years.
Charlotte Flair is unquestionably one of WWE’s top priorities, with her WrestleMania main event vs. Ronda Rousey for Flair’s SmackDown Women’s Champion exemplifying this. She’s a proven draw and the daughter of a wrestling legend. WWE would be foolish to book her otherwise, despite fans often being dissatisfied by her.
Now in her sixteenth overall championship reign in WWE, Charlotte has broken Trish Stratus’ record for the most combined days spent as a WWE Women’s Champion. It’s important to note here that only the Raw Women’s, SmackDown Women’s, Women’s, and Divas Championships are included for this record, meaning Charlotte’s two reigns as NXT Women’s Champion and one as Women’s Tag Team Champion aren’t included.
Trish had previously spent 821-days as champion across seven runs with the company’s Women’s Championship. The longest of these reigns lasted 448-days between January 2005 and April 2006, with Mickie James ending her run at WrestleMania 22.
Upon transitioning to the main roster in the summer of 2015, Charlotte Flair wasted no time in striking championship glory, dethroning Nikki Bella of the Divas Championship at that September’s Night of Champions pay-per-view. She’d be the last Divas Champion, too, as that title was retired in favour of a new WWE Women’s Championship introduced at WrestleMania 32 the following April.
Charlotte now holds the record for the second-highest number of days spent as a WWE Women’s Champion, with The Fabulous Moolah holding the first-place record with an impeccable 10,775-days.
