Charlotte Flair and Asuka have dropped a massive hint as to their designation as a tag team.
Appearing on Talking Smack following their title retention on Christmas Day against Baymella and Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions had several things to say before uttering the designation of their new union.
First on the agenda, however, was the competition that stood in front of them. With a somewhat depleted women’s tag team league, Charlotte stated that there is no one the pair fear:
“It’s not like [there’s] one particular team we fear the most. But we had the opportunity to be on commentary on Monday Night RAW, and since I’ve been gone and then coming back and seeing the improvement of the women, like Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke…and we’ve beat Nia [Jax] and Shayna [Baszler], they’ve come a long way.
Then, coming here tonight, and Asuka and I having been former SmackDown Women’s Champions, we both have a history with Bayley and Sasha Banks. And seeing Bianca [Belair] in the ring and Carmella, it was great. But like, I think we’re going to be a hard team to beat.”
Before the interview concluded, ‘The Queen’ dropped the bombshell by stating that the pair would be known by a mash-up of their respective nicknames:
“Hey. What’s our tag team name? Queens of Tomorrow?”
With their name now seemingly set, both women will look for the best competition as they head into a clear war over the WWE Raw Women’s Championship in the pre-WrestleMania season. It’s going to be fascinating to see how the friendship and partnership dissolves as they approach ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All.’
Charlotte Flair was revealed as Asuka’s mystery partner at WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs on December 20, helping ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’ to defeat Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler to capture the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.
