Charlotte Flair has opened up on winning the Royal Rumble after a year out of action.
Charlotte Flair made history at the 2025 Royal Rumble when she shoved Roxanne Perez to the floor to become the first two-time winner of the Women’s Rumble match. The victory means The Queen can now challenge for either Women’s Title at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.
The road to get to the Rumble was a long and difficult one for Flair, as the star has been on the injured list for over a year after suffering a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus during her match against Asuka on December 8, 2023. At the post-Royal Rumble press conference, the 14-time Women’s Champion struggled to hold back her emotions as she discussed how the fans had helped her make her return.
“I really don’t want to break down. This was the longest I’ve been away from you guys, the fans, since I started in 2012. I got into this business because of my little brother. When my knee injury happened in December and it took me out, I just kept thinking, ‘I can’t go out this way,’ and it made me realize how far I’ve come, and I was doing it because of him.
“Seeing all the fans keeping up with all of my injury updates throughout the year with rehab, ‘We miss you, Charlotte. We love you, Charlotte.’ As a performer, sometimes you feel like, ‘Do I still got it? What am I coming back to do? I’ve done it all.’ Coming back tonight and winning the Rumble two times, no, I’m coming back to do it all over again. That’s how hungry I am.
“A little secret, when I came out, I couldn’t get my robe off. I was like, ‘Good thing I remembered how to wrestle because I can’t get this robe off, it had been so long.’ It felt great.”
Charlotte Flair Not The Only Star To Return At The 2025 WWE Royal Rumble
As well as Flair, the 2025 Women’s Royal Rumble match saw multiple former Women’s Champions make their return to WWE. Alexa Bliss finally made her comeback after two years away from the company, while Hall of Famers like Trish Stratus and Nikki Bella tried one more time to get an opportunity to compete at WrestleMania.
