Sonya Deville has reinstated Charlotte Flair one week after ‘The Queen’ was suspended for putting her hands on a WWE referee.
One week ago Flair was suspended and given a hefty $100,000 fine for laying her hands on official Eddie Orengo. Her attack followed a loss to Asuka that was caused due to interference by Raw Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley. Ripley pulled Flair’s arms out from under her when Flair had Asuka trapped in the Figure Eight Leg Lock. The distraction allowed Asuka to pin her former tag team partner for the victory.
After the match, an irate Flair blamed the man in the middle, referee Eddie Orengo for her loss. She put the boots to the referee before viciously driving an elbow into the back of his head.
WWE official Adam Pearce announced Flair’s punishment on Raw Talk but the suspension at least has now been lifted by Deville. Deville has been acting as Pearce’s on-screen assistant since January 2021. In August 2020 at SummerSlam Sonya Deville lost a ‘Loser Leaves WWE’ match to former best friend turned rival, Mandy Rose.
On Raw, Deville said that Pearce had been too hasty in his decision and allowed Charlotte Flair to apologise to Orengo and have her suspension lifted. Flair complied before asking for an apology of her own for Orengo missing the interference in her match.
Deville then scheduled Flair to compete against Rose in a match on Raw. Despite another close call with an official during the bout, Flair came out on top with the victory. Before the match, Pearce caught up with Deville and Flair backstage. Pearce was less than pleased that Deville had usurped his authority to reinstate Flair.
