In the lead-up to Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton’s WrestleMania 41 Women’s Championship match, both women had a heated and unscripted confrontation on SmackDown. One of the most talked-about lines was when the champion went off script by referencing The Queen’s divorce, saying she had a 0-3 record in marriages. In a personal letter to The Player’s Tribune, writing under her real name, Ashley Fliehr, The Queen opened up about her divorce and noted that when Tiffany Stratton insulted her about it on SmackDown, it felt like a jab at Ashley, and not Charlotte Flair.
And I think in those times when people have seen me appear rattled by the booing, those are just the times when I’ve felt like — at least for a moment — the boos aren’t for Charlotte. They’re for Ashley. They’re for me. They’re because of the way I look. Or because of the energy I’m giving off as a woman. Or because of real trauma I’ve gone through in real life. So when it got mentioned in Chicago that I have an “0–3 record at marriages” … yeah, it rocked me legit.”
The former SmackDown Women’s Champion added that it felt like a jab to Ashley, as her WWE character had never had a divorce. To rub salt in the wound, the crowd cheered when she was mocked.
I’m not too proud to tell you that. I don’t need everyone thinking I’m playing 5-D chess all of the time. My reaction to that line was as genuine as it gets. Because — and maybe this makes me naive — in my head?? Charlotte hasn’t been divorced. So I wasn’t expecting it to come up in that promo….. and then all of a sudden I had an entire arena cheering as I got mocked for something that was (and frankly still is) devastating to me.”

At the beginning of this month, Charlotte Flair opened up about the personal and intense feud she had with Tiffany Stratton on The Takedown With SI. The Queen noted that although things got heated, she praised Tiffany for their match and noted her rival “showed out.”
I think the match was everything that it needed to be. It definitely got super personal, extremely heated going into WrestleMania,” she said. “The personal story and how physical it was, the elaborate entrances, we both had our own unique entrance. I thought she showed up and showed out. I thought it was great.”
