Charlotte Flair gave an interesting response when Becky Lynch’s name was brought up during her appearance on the Broken Skull Sessions.
While Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair used to be close friends as part of the “Four Horsewomen” of WWE, the relationship has soured in more recent times.
Although there had been tension bubbling under the surface, the issues came to a head on an episode of SmackDown following the WWE Draft in October 2021. As part of the draft, Raw Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair was moved to SmackDown and SmackDown Champion Becky Lynch moved to Raw.
This meant that the belts were on the ‘wrong’ show. The remedy to fix this was a belt exchange on SmackDown. However, the segment went off the rails very, very quickly. Flair dropped her title on the floor instead of handing it to Lynch, as the script for the segment went out the window.
This led to heated confrontation between the pair backstage, and their personal bad blood became very public. A match was scheduled between the pair at Survivor Series, and the build-up was prickly at best, with both women repeatedly taking very real shots at each other in interviews and on social media.
Following the match at Survivor Series the two women have remained on separate brands and the tension has dissipated.
During her upcoming appearance on the Broken Skull Sessions with Steve Austin, Flair did the usual word association game, when Lynch’s name was brought up. After a pause, The Queen replied “Character.”
Back in February, Lynch made her own appearance on the show where she admitted she was “fuming” over Flair’s conduct in the infamous SmackDown segment.
